Respite Care

Respite Care

What We Offer

We strive to strengthen and support families raising a child with developmental disabilities through our respite care services. Our compassionate staff provides a nurturing, home setting for children with disabilities from birth to 21 years of age, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Respite Care Services at CHS are your child’s home away from home. We provide a center-based program and offer nursing and support staff at all times. We carefully evaluate each child’s specific health needs during our admissions process.

Children may stay with us for periods that range from a few hours to two weeks, depending on the needs of the family. We offer outstanding flexibility to families and are available on short notice.

You can depend on our staff to provide engaging activities throughout the year and a fun one-week summer respite camp. We do our best to provide your child with a fun atmosphere. Call us anytime if you would like to stop by for a tour.

Respite Care Services are funded primarily through local government funding sources or the Department of Mental Health. Many of the recreational activities are provided through community support from grants, foundations, individuals and corporations.

Respite Care Services and Familv Support Services are available to families residing in St. Louis County who have a child aged birth to 19 with developmental disabilities. A Family Support Partner will work with identified families to assess the needs of the child and the family as a whole. Services will include education, advocacy, respite care services, emotional support and short-term mental health counseling. Services will be determined based on the needs of the child and the family. The goal of this new program is to help strengthen the family through engagement and the development of an individualized plan based on the child and family needs.

*** There is no charge to the family for services. Funding is provided through the St. Louis County Children's Service Fund, Keeping Kids First.
