Residential CareIn the early 1980's we opened our doors to care for children, from birth to age 21, with significant developmental disabilities through long and short term residential care. We have two homes that are conveniently located in residential neighborhoods. Some families are unable to provide 24-hour care for their children at home, and allow us to provide a similar home environment on a short or long term basis. Some of the children in our residential care have experienced abuse or neglect and find a safe, loving home with us. We offer center-based care to provide each child with an individualized, comprehensive habilitation program to maximize his or her physical, emotional, and educational growth. CHS offers a medical advisor (pediatrician), nursing and support staff at all times. Referrals for therapies or nutrition consultation are made as needed. Our program provides:
Short Term or Emergency Residential Care can provide a solution when an emergency or crisis situation arises within a child's family. Our staff is skilled in helping children, during an emergency, transition to residential care. The State of Missouri provides a percentage of the funding necessary to care for our children, if funds are available through the Department of Mental Health and the Children's Division. The remaining portion is provided through community support from grants, foundations, individuals, and corporations. CHS is licensed and certified by State of Missouri and accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services (COA). COA maintains the highest national standards for Residential Treatment Centers. For more information, please contact us at: disabilities@chsmo.org or 314.968.2350 x228
