Birth ParentsWe recognize that making an adoption plan for a child is a selfless act of love. We also understand that it can produce a variety of intense feelings. Many birth parents have shared with us that contacting CHS was one of the most difficult calls they ever had to make. If you are interested in searching for the child you placed for adoption, we are here to help you. We can help with search services or lifetime counseling. It is extremely helpful for you to keep us updated with your current information. It lets us know that you are interested in contact and can save the adoptee an expensive, lengthy search. Some situations can be critical for medical purposes. Birth parents are allowed to receive non-identifying information about the child they made an adoption plan for. In some cases, you can receive letters and pictures from the adoptive parents. Birth parents are also welcome to provide information to the adoption record. You can send invaluable gifts of letters, cards and photographs for your son or daughter and their families should they decide to request information from their record. Consent from both birth parents is required by law in order for identifying information to be released to the adoptee.
