Adoption Search and Review: Adoptive Parent

Adoptive Parent

If you adopted through Children’s Home Society of Missouri, you may be looking for information from your son or daughter’s adoption file.

Some adoptive parents like to provide updates, letters and pictures to be placed in the adoption file and/or passed along to the birth family. Many adoptive parents are also interested in helping their son or daughter search for their biological family.

As an adoptive parent, you are able to receive non-identifying information about your child’s birth family. Non-identifying information would include any updates that have been added to your child’s file by the birth family.

If you are interested in receiving non-identifying information, please complete the Request Form and send it to us with the appropriate fee.

If you are interested in helping your son or daughter begin a search, please request a search packet. Adoptees must begin their search with your consent, even if they are an adult.

Adoptees sometimes choose not to search for this reason. If you would like to have your consent placed in your child’s adoption file, please complete the Adoptive Parent Consent Form.

The Adoption Parent Consent Form must be notarized. When we receive it, we will place it in the adoption file and file it appropriately with the court.
